Loddig\u00e9sie Admirable :<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ou Loddigesia mirabilis is a colibri specie which is only living in Peru’s tropical rainforests.<\/p>\n

The Marvelous Spatuletail:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Marvelous Spatuletail is a species of hummingbird found only in Peru, inhabiting tropical mountain forests. Hummingbirds are tiny birds, so small that they can easily be mistaken for insects. They flap their wings so rapidly (between 50 and 70 beats per second!) that they produce a buzzing sound. Their long beak allows them to sip nectar from flowers, just like bees.<\/p>\n

The Marvelous Spatuletail is so breathtakingly beautiful that it has become a star in its own right\u2014one of the few birds in the world to inspire its own ecotourism, as birdwatchers travel specifically to see it. Some even organize expeditions just for a glimpse of this incredible bird. And it\u2019s easy to understand why: as its name suggests, it is simply divine! Its shimmering plumage of violet, green, and blue is mesmerizing, and its long tail with four distinctive feathers adds an extra touch of elegance.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this tiny bird is already extremely rare, and its admirers may soon have to bid it farewell. Sugarcane plantations have drastically reduced its population, leaving fewer than 1,000 individuals in the wild.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Araripe Manakin:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This striking little bird has white feathers with black wings and tail, topped with a bright red crest\u2014giving it an uncanny resemblance to Donald Trump! But don\u2019t worry, despite the similar hairstyle, the Araripe Manakin is much cooler.<\/p>\n

This rare bird can only be found in a single location: the Chapada do Araripe microregion in the state of Cear\u00e1, Brazil. Its habitat is extremely limited, with a plateau measuring just 50 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide.<\/p>\n

Sadly, despite its charm, beauty, and undeniable coolness, the Araripe Manakin is critically endangered due to the expansion of the Balne\u00e1rio do Caldas thermal resort. In 2012, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) placed it on the list of the 100 most endangered species in the world.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Cabanis\u2019s Tanager:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Also known as the Azure-rumped Tanager, this stunning bird has a plumage of sky blue, violet-azure, yellow, green, and black. Tanagers, with their small pointed beaks, are very social animals and travel in flocks of up to 26 individuals. They traditionally inhabit the cloud forests of southern Mexico and southwestern Guatemala in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, where they feed in the canopy.<\/p>\n

However, due to deforestation caused by unsustainable agricultural expansion, they have recently started inhabiting coffee plantations. It is estimated that between 2,500 and 10,000 individuals remain, but this number appears to be declining.<\/p>\n

These three magnificent birds have deeply touched the Newtree team, which is why we have decided to take action to protect them. When we launched our coffee range in late 2019, we also established a partnership with the NGO BirdLife to donate 5% of all profits from coffee sales.<\/p>\n

BirdLife is an organization dedicated to the conservation of endangered bird species and their habitats.
